Cosplay Build - Aladon Tresendar (Human Fighter / Ranger)

My first D&D character was a human Ranger named Aladon Tresendar. The first name is a mash-up of my middle and first names. The surname is taken from the D&D adventure Lost Mine of Phandelver, in which Aladon discovers that he is the descendant of Phandalin's lord, who perished over 500 years earlier.

When I began planning a costume for this character, I did a lot of Internet searching and stumbled across a Tumbler post by The Borderland Ranger. In it, he says, "A ranger's clothes need to be sturdy, practical, and comfortable. Usually a ranger owns only one set of clothing; as a consequence, it will be quite worn out and patched up. To achieve greater plausibility, this wear and tear can be done on purpose - by using sandpaper, a steel brush, and dark shoe polish, or by adding patches to the elbows, knees or buttocks."

The post really captured what I had already had in my head and I returned to it frequently to keep myself on track.

We have a photo album on Facebook that documents the initial costume build and it's evolution over time.
