Parts: All (vintage FX-7).
Supplies: X-acto knife, super glue, file or sandpaper, brushes, Testors paints and Testors Dull-Cote.
Reference: Drawings from The Essential Guide to Droids and a bit of imagination. I wanted to be able to use the vintage FX-7 figures in the same diorama as the newer POTJ FX-7. So, I decided to convert the smaller vintage figures into "earlier" models of the same type of droid.
Step One: There was not very much changed on the base figure. I cut a wedge out of the main arm and used a bit of super glue to close it up. This caused the arm to be placed in a more "active" pose.
Step Two: I repainted the entire figure using various metallic colors.
Step Three: Last, I applied a light coat of Testors Dull-Cote to protect the paint and reduce the shiny appearance.
