This ship was done during 2002 to be part of a diorama that I have still not yet completed. It is intended to be Pash Cracken's personal fighter.
Parts: POTF2 A-wing fighter. The decals were set aside. The pilot was replaced with my own custom Pash Cracken figure.
Supplies: X-acto knife, emery board, file, super glue, brushes, Testors paints and Testors Dull-Cote.
Reference: I used my imagination for this and came up with a version I liked.
To start things off, the ship was given a new paint-job. The areas that had been red were painted black. The engines, blaster cannons and landing gear were painted steel and then given a very dark wash. Some of the access panels were painted a slightly different color than the ship itself to indicate that they had been replaced. A lot of the edges were drybrushed with aluminum-colored paint to show where paint had been chipped off. The pilot's seat was painted brown to simulate "leather" cushioning. The entire cockpit was painted black and grey. The stickers for the pilot's controls were then applied. I tossed the pilot into my parts box and replaced him with the custom Pash Cracken figure I had already made. The decals were applied at this point, and then the whole ship was given a very light coat of Testors Dull-Cote. Once dry, the entire ship was given several washes of very thinned out black paint to show oil leaks and general wear and tear. Scratches were made with a hobby knife and then filled in with aluminum-colored paint. Dull-Cote was applied liberally to every part of the ship, except the cockpit windscreen.
