Imperial Urban Terrain - Armored Transport (UT-AT)

This is a project that I had a lot of fun with. Because I dreamed the whole thing up, I was able to take whatever liberties I wanted. I also found uses for a lot of old spare parts.

Parts: Vintage Imperial Troop Transport, two rocket launchers from the POTF2 Deluxe Boba Fett set, various odds and ends.

Supplies: X-acto knife, super glue, emery board, file, brushes, Testors paints and Testors Dull-Cote.

Reference: None.

I began by taking the entire vehicle apart. The electronics were scrapped, since they no longer worked anyway (this also allowed a lot of room inside the vehicle for troops). The holes left from the electronic buttons were covered from the interior, by super gluing a small piece of sheet plastic in place. The body was spray painted very light grey. The undercarriage and rear ramp were painted steel. When the entire thing was dry, I applied some slight scuffing to some areas with an emery board. This was done to show minor damage to the skin of the vehicle. Many of the edges were drybrushed with aluminum-colored paint to show where paint had been chipped off. The interior was painted metallic black and the seat were painted brown to simulate "leather" cushioning. More detail was added to the driver's controls. I used some short plastic rods to lengthen the gun barrels. These rods were super glued to the ends of the existing barrels. The dual missile launchers were super glued to the top of the vehicle using the original launcher mounts. This enabled them to swivel a bit. A short antenna was added to the roof of the driver's compartment. The entire vehicle was given several washes of very thinned out black paint to show oil leaks and general wear and tear. The washes filled in all of the cracks on the vehicle, bringing out more of the detail. Finally, Testors Dull-Cote was applied liberally to every part of the vehicle.
