Kyp Durron (Human Jedi Master)

Even after rising to the rank of Jedi Master, Kyp Durron's eye-for-an-eye attitude often clashes with the more compassionate views held by most Jedi. This attitude was only reinforced by the loss of his padawan at the beginning of the Yuuzhan Vong War. Kyp and his fighter squadron, "Kyp's Dozen" fought relentlessly against the Yuuzhan Vong during the early portion of that war, while most Jedi assumed a more passive, defensive role.

Parts: Head (Unknown Voltron figure), Torso (Tatooine Luke Skywalker), Arms (Tatooine Luke Skywalker), Legs (Tatooine Luke Skywalker), Lightsaber (Ki Adi Mundi).

Supplies: X-acto knife, emery board or file, super glue, brushes, Testors paints and Testors Dull-Cote.

Reference: This figure is based on descriptions of Kyp as a Jedi Master in the New Jedi Order novel series. The figure is essentially the same as my earlier Kyp figure, but with a slightly different hairstyle and different clothing.

Step One: I assembled the parts using the boiling water method and then allowed to cool completely. The head was glued on, because it was a non-Star Wars head and did not fit the neck area correctly.

Step Two: Next, I filed down any rough edges.

Step Three: Then I painted the figure, as desired. In the NJO series, Kyp is described as having long black hair and sideburns. His clothing is usually black or dark blue.

Step Four: After the paint was dry, I applied a coat of Testor's Dull-Cote to protect the paint and remove the shiny appearance.
