Imperial Sandtroopers

Imperial Stormtroopers outfitted for operations in a desert environment are referred to as "Sandtroopers". Each of these Sandtroopers was made using similar parts and techniques.

Parts: Head (POTJ Sandtrooper), Torso (POTJ Sandtrooper), Arms (POTJ Sandtrooper), Legs (POTJ Sandtrooper), Backpack (POTJ Sandtrooper), Pauldron (POTJ Sandtrooper), Blaster Rifle (POTJ Sandtrooper).

Supplies: X-acto knife, super glue, brushes, Polly Scale paints, Testors Dull-Cote.

Reference: Photo stills from Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope.

Step One: I used a light tan watercolor paint to weather the figures to cover the existing dirty areas.

Step Two: The shoulder pauldrons were painted grey, black or orange, to indicate the various ranks of the troopers.

Step Three: The weapons were carefully detailed by dry-brushing with a small amount of gunmetal-colored paint.

Step Four: Finally, each figure was given a light coat of Testors Dull-Cote to seal the paint and remove shine.
